Games for Kids

CVL through eLearning research group have designed and digitized local games to enhance numeracy skills for early grade learners in Tanzania. The three developed games namely Manati, Ruka Kamba, and Danadana can be played via mobile devices and computers. The games were tested to pupils, and the result showed that pupils found the games are interesting, fun, and enabled them to improve numeracy skills. Enhancing University Teaching and Learning capacity through the ICT-Mediated Learning (EUCTL) (2007-2009)
Enhancing University Teaching and Learning capacity through the ICT-Mediated Learning Mode sponsored by Carnegie Corporation of Newyork . Through this project CVL was able to establish three ICT-mediated distance education programmes namely the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Management (PGDEM) and the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). The programme also staff trainings on the development of course content and online course facilitation skills.
Online Course Migration and Improvement -PHEA’s Education Technology Initiative (ETI) – (2010 – 2012)
The purpose of this project was to migrate and improve existing online course offerings at UDSM from proprietary (Blackboard) to open source LMS(Moodle) as well as supporting staff and students in this shift. It was sponsored by Partnership for Higher Education in Africa (PHEA), a consortium of foundations for the purpose of implementing projects in the Educational Technology Initiative (ETI). CVL through this project has managed to upload over 100 courses on Moodle and undergo further quality improvement of these courses.
