The Center for Virtual Learning (CVL) in collaboration with Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) and School of Education (SoED) is offering various eLearning distance programs. The offered programmes are Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Management (PGDEM), Masters of Engineering Management (MEM), and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

  • Entry Requirements for Postgraduate Diploma in Education (1 year)
    Bachelor degree or advanced diploma in any field from a recognized institution.
  • Entry Requirements for Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Management (1 year)
    Bachelor degree or Advanced diploma in Engineering or related fields from a recognized Institution OR a Pass degree in Engineering/Applied Sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Entry Requirements for Masters of Engineering Management (2 years)
    Minimum lower second class Bachelor of Science degree in a corresponding field of Engineering from a recognized institution. * The Admission Board will also consider applicants with other equivalent qualifications not mentioned above subject to senate approval *
Fee Structure

For PGDEM the fee is TZS 3,400,000 for local students and US $3,216 for foreign students. For PGDE the fee is TZS 2,600,000 for local students and US $2,460 for foreign students. For MEM is TZS 3,400,000 for first year and TZS 3,400,000 for second year for local students. For foreign students it is US $6,432 for a complete 2 years programme.

Delivery Mode

These are distance mode eLearning Programmes with few face to face sessions that will be conducted at the University Main campus, Mbeya ODeL Centre, and at the University Computing Centres (Mwanza and Arusha branch). Furthermore, students will access all learning materials and have online discussions with their lecturers through the Learning Management System (LMS). Students may access the Learning System anywhere where there is Internet connection.

The mid-semester, compulsorily makes the students attend face-to-face classrooms at the nearest learning centre. The face-to-face sessions helps students in receiving support and guidance in areas where students had difficulties. Currently, there are three operational learning centres: Mwanza, Arusha, and Dar es Salaam.

Note that: For these online programmes, a non-refundable application fees of TZS 50,000/= for Tanzania and US $ 50 for foreigners must be deposited into the Centre for Virtual Learning NBC Bank Account number 040103002088 and use the bank payment slip of the application fees in your application.
